Note: Some of the links for the older stuff go to Fanfiction.net (and two go to A Teaspoon and an Open Mind), because I don't have everything posted on my journal.

I usually say that I don't write romance fic but I'm pretty sure this qualifies even if only one half of both pairings are actually in the fic. Anyway as my first real romance fic, I hope it didn't turn out too corny or weird or whatever. Romance is really not my specialty.

Title: Wives and Wedding Rings
Characters: Rip Hunter, Martin Stein
Rating/Warnings: G
Genre: Angst, Friendship
Word Count: 3200
Spoilers: Set somewhere the last few episodes of Season 1.
Summary: Martin and Rip discuss the women they've left behind.

Wives and Wedding RingsCollapse )

It's done though I'm not sure entirely sure about this ending. I could only take things so far because I wanted it to stay relatively close to canon and since it takes place before the last few episodes and Rip and Leonard are obviously not that close in those few episodes, I couldn't make them best friends. Hopefully what I wrote works anyway and is a satisfying ending. I would rather like to write fic where Rip and Leonard are friends. The type of friends who snark at each other and drive each other insane but still really care about each other. I also rather like the idea of Rip, Leonard, Mick, and Sara as a foursome, not a romantic foursome but a friendship foursome, a weird dysfunctional group of friends who annoy each other but look after each other. Of course, then I end up leaving out the rest of the team and they're so lovely as one big dysfunctional family.

Title: Bank Robbers and Cutpurses

Word Count: 1600 for Chapter 5, about 15,000 in total

Chapter 5Collapse )

I did it! I actually updated this weekend. I didn't think I would but I did. Just a short epilogue left, but I have to rewrite it a bit so not sure when it'll be done.

Title: Bank Robbers and Cutpurses
Characters: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart
Rating/Warnings: PG-13
Genre: Action/Adventure, Drama, Hurt/Comfort (sort of)
Word Count: 3300 for Chapter 4, about 15,000 in total

Chapter 1

Chapter 2

Chapter 3

Chapter 4Collapse )

Please excuse my random, erratic updates. Anyway, yay for cliffhangers! Story completed despite the stupid wasp that decided to sting me on my arm on my way home today.

Title: Bank Robbers and Cutpurses
Characters: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart
Rating/Warnings: PG-13
Genre: Action/Adventure, Drama, Hurt/Comfort (sort of)
Word Count: 3300 for Chapter 3, about 15,000 in total
Spoilers: Set between 1x12 and 1x13.
Summary: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart, a concussion, a broken ankle, and a time pirate prison cell.

Chapter 1

Chapter 2

Chapter 3Collapse )

I'm not entirely sure that I'm happy with this but I've rewritten it to the point of almost over-writing it so it's about time I just gave in and posted it. Writing long stories always frustrates me. I find it so hard to make sure that the whole thing makes sense and actually goes where it's suppose to go.

Title: Bank Robbers and Cutpurses
Characters: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart
Rating/Warnings: PG-13
Genre: Action/Adventure, Drama, Hurt/Comfort (sort of)
Word Count: 3500 for Chapter 2, about 15,000 in total
Spoilers: Set between 1x12 and 1x13.
Summary: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart, a concussion, a broken ankle, and a time pirate prison cell.

Chapter 1

Chapter 2Collapse )

This was supposed to be a shortish piece involving Rip and Snart having a conversation in a prison cell, but since it was a prison cell, Snart, of course, had to escape and things got a little out of control. On the plus side, I've finally written something long with actual action and a real plot for the first time in ages. The draft is done (about 13,000 words, 4 chapters and an epilogue) so it will definitely get finished but don't expect it to be posted too quickly. I'm a slow nitpicky editor and I keep adding and rewriting bits.

Title: Bank Robbers and Cutpurses
Characters: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart
Rating/Warnings: PG-13
Genre: Action/Adventure, Drama, Hurt/Comfort (sort of)
Word Count: 3500
Spoilers: Set between 1x12 and 1x13.
Summary: Rip Hunter, Leonard Snart, a concussion, a broken ankle, and a time pirate prison cell.

Chapter 1Collapse )

Ok, this is the second fic in my We'll Meet Again series and my favourite thing I've written for Legends so far. I'm posting this so soon because I finished the first fic a couple weeks ago and then didn't get around to editing or posting it until after I finished the second. The third fic in the series will take awhile longer especially if I go and try to finish this other thing I'm trying to write instead. Anyway, you can probably see why this got separated into several fics because this one is written in a completely different style than the first.

Title: Don't Know Where, Don't Know When
Characters: Rip, Baby Martin, Baby Snart, Baby Jax, Young Mick, Young Sara, Lewis Snart, Quentin Lance, Jax's Mother
Rating/Warnings: G
Genre: Angst, Family, Friendship, Missing Scene
Word Count: 2300
Spoilers: Set during season 1 finale
Summary: Rip takes the team's younger selves home.

Don"t Know Where, Don"t Know WhenCollapse )

This is one of three fics I'm writing which explore what happened to Rip during the season 1 finale when he left the team in 2016 and went off on his own. It was supposed to be one fic but it somehow split into three. The second one covers Rip taking the team's younger selves back home and is pretty much done already so it should be up today or tomorrow. The third one will take a little longer.

Added disclaimer: The song We'll Meet Again was written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles

Title: We'll Meet Again
Characters: Rip, Rip's Mother
Rating/Warnings: G
Genre: Angst, Family, Emotional Hurt/Comfort, Missing Scene
Word Count: 3500
Spoilers: Set during season 1 finale
Summary: Sometimes what we really need is our mother.

We"ll Meet AgainCollapse )

Warning: This story contains a lot of conjecture, random references, and name dropping.

Almost all the objects in this fic can be seen in Rip's study on the show. For a complete list of what I spotted while researching this fic check out my Guide to Rip Hunter's Study.

Opening scene inspired by this photo.

Pyjama Fic: Not you might suppose a fic about the characters hanging out in their pyjamas (although I do love those) but a fic written on a lazy day off without you ever actually changing out of your pyjamas.

I just started and finished a 3400 word fic in one day. This has never happened before. It is now four o'clock in the afternoon. I think I'll do some stretches, and then maybe I'll finally put some clothes on.

Not really happy with this one but I've been nitpicking at it for several days and it is driving me insane. If I don't post it, I'll never be able to get on with the three other unfinished Legends of Tomorrow fic I'm trying to write.

Title: Dead Sons and Lost Lovers

I post so rarely I start to wonder if anyone on my friend's list even remembers who I am.

Anyway, the new Captain America movie is out and you'd think I'd be back to writing Avengers fics, finishing up all those unfinished ones that have been sitting on my computer for months, but I haven't even seen the movie yet. (That will hopefully happen this week) Instead, I am finally into something new. The first new fandom that has inspired me to write fanfic for years. And it is Legends of Tomorrow. It has a space ship, time travel, and a team of superheroes, so of course, I love it. It also has lots of lovely characters which is what really gets me hooked. And now I have fanfic ideas coming out my eyeballs, and of course, no time to write anything because as soon as I started to get back into writing, my job magically jumped from being part-time to full-time. That always seems to happen. I still managed to write a few short things which I've put on AO3 but not here yet so prepare to have your friend's list inundated with them as I finally update my journal.

Done!!!!!!

My NaNoWriMo novel is craptastic crap, but I just wrote 50,567 of non-fanfiction fiction so I am happy. I also wrote 1561 words of notes in lieu of editing though I did manage to change my main character's name about 10 times. Thank you Find/Replace! I'm probably going to have to write a whole bunch more notes within the next week so I don't forget everything that I'd like to change and possibly write an outline of how it should go. Yes, I write the novel; then I make an outline!

Things that helped with writing: Cookies! Nordic Ambient Music! Listening to Neil Gaiman read from his latest collection of short stories! Dance breaks!

Love to all NaNo Writers! I love writing with you!

Testing ground

Posted on 2015.11.15 at 19:27
So according to my dance teacher, one of her teachers told her that when experimenting to come up with a new dance you usually keep 1% and throw out the other 99% and that is probably what's going to happen with my NaNo novel. At first, I was looking on it as a very detailed outline for a novel I may write in future, but now I am looking at it as a testing ground to find out what does and doesn't work. I've already decided that one character shouldn't even be there and should have died a year earlier so he mysteriously disappears a third of the way through. In lieu of editing, I'm keeping a separate file with a long list of things that should be changed. I've also found a lot of things I should really research more about before writing about them. Anyway, still writing. Still behind.

Words written so far: 20,829

Cookies eaten so far: 6 reverse chocolate pecan, 6 oatmeal chocolate chunk, and 6 chocolate dipped shortbread.

Cookie Power!

So NaNoWriMo hasn't been going great this year. Attempting to write something original has been a bit tricky, but I felt I had to try. Nothing wrong with fanfic but it would be nice to be actually published one day if remotely possible. Anyway after a false start after realizing writing a bunch of short stories would probably actually be more difficult than writing a whole novel when writing original stuff, I deleted my first couple hundred words and started fresh on Monday. I then had to contend with work, massive cramps, an annoying cold, and my own inability to write anything remotely fast so I arrived today way behind on my word count and hating my horribly written story, but I found the solution. Reverse Chocolate Pecan Cookies! I get to eat one at least every 500 words and it seems to have worked. I wrote over 3500 words today. (And ate five cookies. I know that doesn't add up but I wrote the first 1000 before I bought the cookies)  I'm still far behind but I'm catching up. Unfortunately, this isn't going to work for everyday as it will seriously mess up my blood sugar levels, but I feel like I actually have a chance now. Anyway the way I see it, I've already written more original stuff than I have in years so even if I quit now, I've still accomplished something.
